On June 4th, science popularization event in celebration of the "6•5" World Environment Day was held at Qixian Square in Luxian Community of Jinan City, sponsored by Shandong Society for Environmental Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "SSES") and co-organized by School of Water Conservancy and Environment, University of Jinan and Luxian Community. A total of more than 100 people participated in the activity, including teachers and students from University of Jinan, representatives from Urban Management Section of Qixian Subdistrict Office and Residents Committee, community residents in Luxian Community, and Secretariat staffs of SSES.

Centering on the theme of "Act towards a Beautiful China", a series of environmental protection and science popularization activities were organized at the event site, focusing on the key work of pollution prevention and control with the blue sky protection as the top priority. First of all, young volunteers from the School of Water Conservancy and Environmental, University of Jinan led the residents and students to read the "Environmental Protection Initiative", calling on everyone to protect the environment and start from myself to practice the environmental protection concept of beautiful China.

After that, the residents and students sang the theme song of "6•5" World Environment Day, "Make China More Beautiful", to inspire everyone's deep sense of responsibility and mission to protect the environment. Meanwhile, the community dance team, model team, Tai Chi team, and the children from Qixian Experimental Kindergarten also helped to promote environmental popularization through their dances and songs.

Finally, a knowledge contest was held, and residents lined up orderly and participated actively. The lively atmosphere of the knowledge contest deepened the public's understanding of World Environment Day. The topics included environmental knowledge in residents' environmental and health literacy, electricity saving, carbon saving, green travel, green consumption.

This event created a good atmosphere for the whole society to participate in the construction of ecological civilization and further raised the awareness of the general public to participate in environmental protection.
