From February 14th to 15th, 2019 Academic Conference of Shandong Society for Environmental Sciences (Hereinafter referred to as the "SSES") & Forum on Environmental Science and Technology Servicing and Supporting High-Quality Economic and Social Development were held in Linyiand hosted by Linyi University. The conference was attended by nearly 500 leaders, experts and representatives from Department of Ecology Environment of Shandong Province, universities inside and outside the province such as University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, North China Electric Power University, Zhengzhou University, Nanchang University, Shandong University, Ocean University of China, China University of Petroleum, Shandong Normal University, Linyi University, enterprises and institutions, and member units. On the afternoon of the 14th, the fifth meeting of the sixth council of SSES was held in Linyi Hotel.

On the morning of the 15th, Forum on Environmental Science and Technology Servicing and Supporting High-Quality Economic and Social Development was held at Linyi University. Zhuang Qiankun, Professor of Peking University, Ge Weiyan, Inspector grade I of Department of Ecology Environment of Shandong Province, and Yang Bo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Linyi University delivered welcome speeches. Ji Ming, Secretary-general of SSES presided over the opening ceremony.

Academician Jiang Guibin Gave a Keynote Speech

Jiang Guibin, the Academician of the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a speech entitled "Molecular Transformation-the Core Issue of Environmental Science Research". Academician Jiang Guibin analyzed the ecological and environmental problems in Shandong Province from a molecular perspective, such as surface water pollution, coastline pollution, drinking water source pollution. His speech focused on the generation and transformation of chemical molecules in the environment, and prospected for environmental pollution control.

Director-general Tang Bo Delivered a Keynote Speech

Tang Bo, Director-general of SSES, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Environmental Science and Technology Servicing and Supporting High-Quality Economic and Social Development". Director-general Tang Bo emphasized the importance of environmental science and technology for economic and social development, introduced the current status of ecological environment and environmental protection and technology work in our province, and expounded the country’s key tasks for technological innovation to support ecological environmental protection and winning the battle of pollution prevention and control, introduced in detail the general working idea of improving the level of science and technology, serving and supporting the high-quality development of society and economy in our province, and put forward specific requirements for SSES in research projects, achievements transformation, talent team construction, science and technology services, science popularization, building of collaborative innovation community, international cooperation, and so on.

Inspector Ge Weiyan Made a Speech

Inspector Ge Weiyan emphasized the importance of science and technology and affirmed the unremitting efforts of SSES in uniting scientific and technological personnel of all parties, focusing on intellectual advantages to carrying out basic scientific research, promoting collaborative innovation in government, industry, university, and institute, and serving high-quality economic and social development.

And he hope that SSES will continue to fulfill its role as a platform, bridge, and link for environmental academic association and maximize the scope and extent of solidarity with environmental science and technology workers, and contribute to the ecological and environmental protection in the province.

Professor Zhuang Qiankun Made a Speech

Professor Zhuang Qiankun said that the significance of SSES existence lies in the close unity and cohesion of the majority of environmental science and technology workers, so that to better gather the wisdom of more experts to solve the current severe environmental problems. This grand meeting just provided such a platform.

President Yang Bo Made a Speech

President Yang Bo described the development of Linyi University, introduced his efforts to promote the character development of environmental engineering, and actively engaged in the construction of socialist ecological civilization. He warmly welcomed the guests who participated in the academic conference.

Wang Suhua, Professor of North China Electric Power University presided over the above reports.

On the afternoon of the 15th, Working Conference on Teaching Steering Committee of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shandong Undergraduate Education and 4 sub-forums were held in Linyi Hotel at the same time, which were the Taishan Science and Technology Forum with the theme of VOCs Emissions Reduction Control and Atmospheric Pollution Prevention, Forum on Environmental Protection and Safety of Chemical Industry Park, Forum on Young and Middle-aged Scientists in the Eco-Environment Discipline, and Forum on Transformation and Popularization of Scientific and Technological Achievements in Universities in Shandong Province. A total of more than 20 experts attended the branch venue and gave a keynote report, including Hao Zhengping, Chair Professor of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ma Jianming, Distinguished Professor of College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University, Chen Changhong, Professor of Shanghai Academy of Environmental Sciences, Shiwen Liu, Deputy Director of Shandong Provincial Center for Solid Waste and Hazardous Chemical Pollution Control, Ecological Environment of Shandong Province, and Ma Zhaokun, Deputy Director of Shandong Institute of Eco-Environmental Planning. The participating experts conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions around the theme of each branch venue in warm atmosphere.
